ลูกข่างไก่ชน ลูกข่าง ได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นมรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมของชาติไทย ประจำปีพุทธศักราช ๒๕๕๘ ลูกข่างเป็นการเล่นที่มีการปฏิบัติสืบทอดกันอยู่ในประเทศไทยและมีเอกลักษณ์สะท้อนวิถีไทยตามลักษณะเฉพาะของท้องถิ่น เพื่อความสนุกสนานเพลิดเพลิน เกิดความรักและความสามัคคีในหมู่คณะซึ่งอาจมีทั้งรูปแบบที่ไม่มุ่งเน้นการแข่งขันและไม่หวังผลแพ้ชนะ หรือ มีรูปแบบลักษณะของการแข่งขันมีกฎกติกา มีอุปกรณ์ โดยต้องได้รับการฝึกฝนตามวัฒนธรรมที่ได้รับการถ่ายทอดกันมา ลูกข่างภูมิปัญญาไทยเป็นทั้งศาสตร์และศิลป์ เป็นมรดกภูมิปัญญาอันทรงคุณค่าอย่างยิ่งสมควรได้รับการปกป้องคุ้มครองให้มีการสืบทอดและไม่ให้สูญหายไปจากสังคมและวิถีชีวิตไทยตลอดไป
KAI-CHON (TOP THAILAND) Spinning Top was designated as Thailand’s intangible cultural heritage in 2015. It is a Thai folk game inherited in Thailand; its local characteristics reflect Thai folkways and identity. Playing spinning top, either competitive or non-competitive, does not only bring enjoyment but also unify people. As for a battle, there are rules, tools and techniques that have been culturally trained since antiquity. Being both science and art, this branch of Thai local wisdom is considered a precious intangible cultural heritage that is worth safeguarding – to be continually preserved and transmitted in Thai ways of life and society.
